Fallin Asleep

I am really really sorry.  I know that people are wondering what the next step of my adventure has been, but i have just been falling asleep before i ever break out my computer.  I usually fall asleep after reading my Bible.  (I know, super spiritual right? haha kidding) But i just kinda lay in my bed and start to take a little snooze and that just turns into hours of sleep.  So i thought i would put a disclaimer.

SORRY FOR SNOOZING!

Tomorrow i promise stories and even maybe some pictures from a friends camera of Portage Valley, this place where we are going to be taking groups.  It was insanely beautiful and incredibly fun, but hey remember.  It was all after a long days work.

P.S. It is surprisingly light outside for the time that it is.

BOO YAH BABY!

Welcome to the CAR WASH BABY!

Well hey hey, so today was filled with moving a freezer and other such events.  You know, ones that involve lots of water and suds.  Oh, and did i mention that i am pretty sure someone is vacuuming out their car at 12:00 a.m. I know, weird right.  Well any who, the water used to wash these huge 15 passenger vans was stinkin cold.  As cold as ice even.

Well me and Jared and Lily, my two homies as of right now, got the honor of getting and moving a freezer for Global Partnership Ministries so that we could store more food at the church for our teams.  After finagling the freezer out of the smallest space possible and loosely tying it in the back of the truck, we got some cookies.  Man they were stinkin good. Way to go Mrs. Sharon.  Oh and i got some cast iron skillets for me, two bar stools for Scott and a little toaster for him as well.  Pretty good i would say.

Any who, after getting the freezer unloaded we started are long day of washing these four 15 passenger vans.  Well after we really clean out one van that had leaks, we test it out to see if it still leaks, i know, crazy idea right.  Why check for leaks before starting to work on it.  But we found out that the roof still leaks in two spots so we got some nice shtuff to fill the whole's.  So while that stuff dried we washed a whole other van, and got another one.  Well we got a little hungry and Bud and Trula, the two other people that are rockin it out with us this summer got home from their trip today and so we had pizza and played Rumacube!!! Totally the best at this game.  so we finished eating and playing the game at 10:00 p.m. and it was still so stinkin bright outside, so... we washed a whole other car.  Yes, Boo Yah Baby!!! Exciting, I know.

Well i am excited to see that God is showing me some pretty cool things and even though i had to drop a class today for school, God is rockin my world and i am having a blast.  I can not wait to start sharing what i am learning, but I am patiently waiting for God imparted wisdom instead of my own.  So Love you all and deuces up!

Water Anyone?

Well hello my fellow lower 48ers.  Oh crazy Alaskans.  Well today marks my first full day in this beautiful frontier we like to call Alaska.  I had my first Global Partnership Ministry meeting at 10:00 a.m. (2:00 p.m.)  It was pretty nice and easy, Scott made it incredibly organized with a list of the what to do's.  Plus i met a guy named Jared who i will be working with and rockin it out with while i am up here.

So today we were assigned many tasks for the week, one of them is getting a ton, literally almost a ton of water for supplies.  So off to Home Depot for the managers special on water.  We got almost a full pallet of water.  (48 packs of 24 water bottles)  After we got that loaded up we went to a church which is our home base.  Jared was showing me around when all of a sudden we ran into a room with water all over the floor.  There was a washer and drier in that room so i didn't think to much of it, just thought one of the houses on the washer came loose, not to big of a deal.  Turns out it was a leak in the next room.  We thought it was coming from outside because there was a problem with that last year, but as we were leaving i heard water still flowing and i wasn't comfortable with that answer.  So as we walked back in i looked up on the wall and noticed a pipe and water coming from it, so i got up on the counters, touched this little block of dry wall and it pretty much crumbled away.  It revealed a copper pipe with two wholes in it.  Needless to say, we immediately called Scott and he sent over Lew, oh Lew.  Great guy who i will get to know more and more.  Any who i found that i could turn off the water to that spacific pipe, and so i was able to stop the leak.  Well Lew came, and we showed him what we found and after that he helped open up the door to our storage room.

Well after all that ordeal we loaded up the waters and got one of our vans from another church.  When i arrived back home it was right before a little get together.  We had tons of great food and great company.  I was able to meet a man named Danny who is in charge of the Christian Pilot program and his family.  It was a blast just getting to hear stories and meet some new people.  I love that we are starting to become a family and i love that i am meeting new people and creating amazing relationships daily.  In fact, tomorrow i am going to be meeting our newest team member Lilly who is staying with Bud and Trula, (pretty sure that is how you spell their names). Bud and Trula are the people i mentioned yesterday, i think they will be a trip to get to know. :)

Well i am pumped to see how God is going to use me this trip and grow me.  I know i desire him to grow me in becoming more sociable and outgoing, and i was able to see that by just talking with the Home Depot employee and just telling him of certain saran wrap and roadkill adventures.

Well the day is coming to an end but there is still so much sun in sight. Peace out.

MOOSEN!!!

As i was flying to my new home for two and a half months I saw the most beautiful and amazing thing... God's creation.  It was crazy, i looked out the window and i saw flat land, nothing too exciting, and then about thirty minutes later i noticed the lady in front of my looking out the window and to my amazement i saw SNOW COVERED MOUNTAINS!  HAHa.  I mean i have never seen something so beautiful and amazing.  It was the most amazing landscape that i have quite possibly ever laid my eyes on.

Well as i got off the plain at 6:00 Alaska time, which is 10:00 Georgia time, and started to enjoy the nice cool Alaskan weather, Scott Kirby, the person in charge of Global Partnership Ministries, picked me up and gave me a little sight seeing trip.  Before we even got out of the airport we saw something quite amazing.  TWO MOOSE! There were two cute baby moose.  I know i know, be jealous my friends.  I mean right after that i saw the most beautiful landscape, which i will be able to describe to you later, and as we were driving to his house there was a mind bottling (yes i said mind bottling) mountain range in front of us.  I mean wow, it was indescribable.  Snow covered mountains right before my eyes.

Well we then had a "dinner" (more like a late night snack because it was really 10:30 to my body clock) we left to go drive up a mountain.  I met some of the people that i will be working with this summer, which i will tell more about them in a later blog.  So we all drove up this mountain and saw an amazing scenic view with this surreal Alaskan view of pure wilderness. Well we eventually came to a parking spot, where there were some ski lifts, but they were shut down :( but we got out and then we walked a little ways from the car and PLAYED IN THE SNOW!!!  The snow went up to my knees, and it was great.  Not even that cold at all.

Oh and to top off this whole experience... i forgot my camera, so only my camera phone has these pictures.

Well this is just the description and the start of this little blogging life journey.  I hope you all enjoy and i pray that you are blessed through this discovery and life journey of mine.

Deuces Up, A-Town Down, HOLLA!
